Palafrugell closes the showers in the theater's dressing rooms, municipal pavilions and fields

Today, the Palafrugell City Council has ordered the closure of all showers in municipal sports facilities and those in the Municipal Theatre, which are used by artists after performances or rehearsals.

The City Council has decided to take another step to raise awareness among the population about the drought. In phase 1 of the Emergency of the drought decree, only facilities with swimming pools must compensate their water use by closing some showers.

Some town councils such as Girona decided to go further and since January 22nd they have closed all showers in fields and municipal pavilions. Cleaning is only allowed on match days.

The Palafrugell City Council has decided to act along the same lines, which today has decreed the closure of the showers in all municipal sports facilities, which can only be used on competition days for the federated teams, usually on weekends.

The measure is advanced to emergency phase 2, when all showers in sports facilities must be closed, according to the Government's Drought Plan. This phase will be entered when the reservoirs in the internal basins reach 10.95% capacity. They are currently at 15.01%, according to data from the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).

Apart from this measure, which will affect the sports and culture sectors; The city council has adopted others to reduce water consumption. Among other things, he has closed the hydromassage of the municipal pool and irrigates the trees with groundwater manually and only to guarantee their survival.

Cleaning roads, containers and the sewage network is also carried out with groundwater. The paradox arises that the City Council grants licenses for the construction of swimming pools, which prohibits filling.

In those municipal works in which the planting of bushes had been planned, this will not be carried out since they could not be watered afterwards. The educational gardens of the Unitat d'Escolarització Compartida (UEC) have also stopped being watered.
