One person has died and three have been injured when a small boat capsized, for reasons that are being investigated, in the area of Grossa Island in Colera (Girona), according to both the Civil Guard and the Generalitat Firefighters.
The accident occurred around 12:40 this morning when the boat, from which four men were fishing, all from the province of Barcelona, overturned.
One of the men who fell into the water managed to swim to shore, while the other two were able to cling to the overturned boat and were rescued by a diving boat that was in the area, as well as the fourth. man, although they have not been able to do anything to save his life.
The three survivors have been transferred by the Medical Emergency System to Colera and from there to the Figueres Hospital, where they have been admitted with symptoms of hypothermia and health sources indicate the possibility that they will be discharged this afternoon.
A Maritime Rescue vessel has also attended the scene, although its intervention has not been necessary, as well as four crews from the Generalitat Fire Department.
The Portbou Civil Guard has taken charge of the initial procedures, although the investigation will be carried out by the Maritime Service and the Judicial Police of the Girona Command.
The remains of the deceased victim of this accident have been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Girona where the autopsy will be carried out to clarify the causes of death, although everything indicates that he died by drowning.
