Jaylon Ferguson, a Baltimore Ravens linebacker, was found dead from an overdose of cocaine and fentanyl earlier this month. The office of the chief Medical Examiner released a statement. The death was ruled accidental.
A spokesperson for the office didn't provide additional information on the circumstances leading to Ferguson's suicide.
On June 22, the Ravens made public Ferguson's passing early in the morning. The team stated that Ferguson was a kind, respectful young gentleman with a big smile. CBS Baltimore reported that police responded at 11:25 p.m. to a call regarding a suspicious death at a Baltimore residence. CBS Baltimore reported that they found doctors who attended Ferguson and pronounced him dead on the spot.
CBS Baltimore reported that police stated at the time that there was not enough evidence to suspect trauma or foul play.
Ferguson, a Louisiana native, was drafted by CBS Baltimore in 2019. His college career saw him record 45 sacks, which earned him the nickname "Sack Daddy". He was a part of 38 games with the Ravens. He recorded 67 combined tackles as well as 4 1/2 sacks.
