Nebulossa responds to criticism after winning the Benidorm Fest with 'Zorra': “We sweat it all”

'Zorra' by Nebulossa is one of the most controversial songs that has been chosen in recent years to represent Spain in Eurovision. Both its title and the content of its lyrics have been criticized for speaking in a derogatory manner and not appropriate for the contest they are participating in.

However, both Mark Dasous and María Bas, the members of Nebulossa, have responded forcefully to these criticisms: “We are old and you already see things and handle them differently. We are not 20 years old and I hate everything,” said María.

Furthermore, they consider that the lyrics are perfectly appropriate to launch an inclusive and respectful message to the LGTB community: “They are our impetus for this message to reach higher. They are free to give their opinion, obviously. We are going to take this message to the last consequence. And if they don't let us, let it be evident," explains Mark.

Beyond controversies, the duo has explained how they feel after triumphing at the Benidorm Fest: “We didn't expect this at all. We are trying to assimilate it. I didn't imagine that this would become so big,” María admits.

“My dream was to make myself known. We artists always want our work to be recognized, that was simply our hope,” added the artist, who has now seen the opportunity of a lifetime for her to jump to stardom.

For his part, Mark explains the importance of his proposal: “The message is already being received in Europe. We receive messages from other countries. “We want it to be understood because music is a universal language,” he concluded.
