Nearly a thousand fallaes will burn tonight at the Nit de la Cremà in the Valencian Community

The Fallas 2024 will conclude tonight with the traditional Nit de la Cremà, in which the fire consumes the almost one thousand fallaes, both large and children, that are planted in Valencia and other cities in the provinces of Valencia, Alicante and Castellón. A tradition that dates back to the purifying fires that were activated to celebrate the change of solstice from winter to spring, and to which Valencian carpenters added the custom of burning old belongings in honor of Sant Josep. Thus a unique party in the world was born.

During the celebration of these festivities, Valencians and tourists have enjoyed several days of intense fallera activity: 'despertaes', fireworks castles, "mascletaes", parades, the offering to the Virgen de los Desamparados, the awards ceremony and the typical Fallas parades, among other events. But the most emotional moment is undoubtedly the "cremà", because with the fire the work of the falleros and falleras is put to an end, and the starting signal for the following year's fallas is given.

The Fallera Central Board (JCF) has announced that the 'Cremà' will take place between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. The children's Fallas throughout the city will begin to burn at 8 p.m.; At 10:30 p.m. the 2022 winner, the one from the Antiga de Campanar commission, will burn, and the last to be reduced to ashes will be the municipal falla of València, which will begin to burn one hour before midnight. This is today's time sequence of the "cremà".

8:00 p.m. - "Cremà" of children's faults.

8:30 p.m. – "Cremà" of the children's falla that has won the first prize of the

Special Section

9:00 p.m. – "Cremà" of the children's fault in the Plaça de l'Ajuntament.

10:00 p.m. – "Cremà" of all the faults of Valencia.

10:30 p.m. – "Cremà" of the falla that has obtained the first prize of the Special Section

11:00 p.m. – "Cremà" of the Plaça de l'Ajuntament fault.

The special security operation for the Night of Cremà in Valencia will be made up of 460 agents this year - 380 of them firefighters in charge of fire control -, with reinforcements in the Fallas monuments and fire zones close to buildings with ventilated facades. Firefighters have determined the need to change location or increase the distance of the monuments in two fault commissions: the Pintor Maella-France-Menorca fault and the L'Horta Sud-La Costera fault.

The location of the fire zone of the Escultor García Mas-Puerto de Santa María fault commission will also be changed, as well as that of the Doctor Gil and Morte-Vila Barberá fault. To the entire deployment of firefighters, we must add the 250 civil protection volunteers for a Night of the Cremà that will begin at 8 p.m. on the night of the 19th, with the children's Fallas, and will conclude at 11:30 p.m., with the municipal failure.

The 384 large falls spread throughout the city "will burn in a staggered manner so that firefighters can ensure that all the monuments burn and fall correctly," Caballero assured. The Councilor for Firefighters has also detailed that, previously, in some of these cremàs, to avoid collateral damage, firefighters will refresh the surroundings of the faults that are in very limited locations with water hoses.
