Más Madrid asks the ombudsman to appeal against the Trans Law in Madrid

The Más Madrid party has requested this Tuesday the Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, to file an unconstitutionality appeal before the Constitutional Court against the modification of the Trans Law approved by the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso in December 2023.

The leader of Más Madrid, Manuela Bergerot, after registering the petition, has indicated in statements to journalists that they have prepared a report during these last two months to point out the elimination of rights such as "the dignity of the person and the free development of personality, physical and moral integrity, privacy or health care".

Bergerot has been accompanied at the registration by the Más Madrid deputies Carla Antonelli and Jimena González, and the councilor at the Madrid City Council, Eduardo Rubino, members of the LGTBi collective.

In the last plenary session of 2023, in an extraordinary manner, the Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso carried out the modification of the two texts of the LTGBi regulations of the Community of Madrid, in force since 2016.

Más Madrid has presented, for the moment, only one petition to Law 2/2016, known as 'Trans Law of the Community of Madrid', and they are in the process of studying the Comprehensive Protection against LGTBIphobia, also modified.

Bergerot trusts in the Ombudsman's willingness to analyze the possibility of unconstitutionality, although he has pointed out that they will use "all the tools at their disposal" to prevent the Community of Madrid from being the first region "to cut people's rights." trans".

The leading group in the opposition to Díaz Ayuso cannot present motu proprio an appeal for unconstitutionality since they would need the endorsement of at least 50 congressional deputies or senators.
