Motorcycles or Broncano have to freeze your heart

Spanish boy who comes into the world, may God preserve you, Pablo Motos or David Broncano must freeze your heart. The cuchufleta is useful so as not to lose good humor amid so much bad humor and political constraint. Yesterday again heavy artillery in the Cortes. If it were up to our rulers and leaders, there would not be a single citizen left without being called to the barricades that everyone is building everywhere. The Congress and Senate will not stop smelling of garlic until after the European elections.

Those who see similarities between the atmosphere that presides over Spanish politics these months and the one that existed in Catalonia at the height of the process are partly right.

Also then the agenda was permanently aggressive and divisive. Meat or fish? Both things could not be. Those who said they eat both one thing and the other, or neither, were unclassifiable and uncomfortable. That is why they were marked with the equidistance cross, a word that had never been an insult, but which in the 2015-2017 biennium was used in Catalonia to vilify anyone who did not clearly express a preference, whether pro-independence or constitutionalist.

The atmosphere that the Government and the opposition promote from the Cortes is similar to that of then and they promote the same thing. Either with me or against me. Luckily, the common citizen has long since seen the political issue and knows that part of the dressing only serves to highlight the spicy flavor of the ingredients. If this were not the case, if we were to take seriously everything we hear from the mouths of your Lordships, the risk of ending up beating each other up would certainly be real.

War without prisoners and on all fronts. Also on RTVE on account of the signing of David Broncano for a whopping 28 million euros for two seasons so that the program he presents, The Resistance, can no longer be seen on Movistar and can be broadcast on public television.

A maneuver imposed by Moncloa that has blown up the governance body of the public entity and shown that the Executive is not even up to the task of keeping minimal appearances when it comes to imposing its will. So many laws of depoliticization of the public media, and also of the regional television entities, the same can be said, to end without moving from place. The crisis on TVE is a good example of the style of government that Pedro Sánchez has imposed on this already totally uncomplexed legislature: they bark, then we ride. But if they don't bark, let's make them bark.

The most common reading of David Broncano's arrival at TVE says that it is an operation to politically counteract the vitriol that Pablo Motos spends on the Government in El hormiguero (Antena3). If it is true that this is a presidential whim with this objective, we would be facing the best example to illustrate the poor health of political talent in Spain. Imagining as much gray matter as there is in Moncloa giving birth to an operation of such little significance and scope would deserve a great failure in political Machiavellianism.

What is not a reading, but a certainty, because the facts confirm it, is that the presidential apparatus has not trembled to demonstrate that the Government does not have to cough. And if this requires causing a top-level crisis in an important public company, then it is. And if it also has to be proven that the independence of the public media with respect to political power continues to be a chimera in Spain, then it is proven. Let us add that this does not make the reign of Pedro Sánchez an exception. Because, to be honest, it must be added that it has always been like this. With the exception of the presidency of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who did take the autonomy of the public radio and television entity quite seriously.

Pablo Motos versus David Broncano. The anthill The resistance. The atmosphere is so charged that it is even intended that pressing the button on the remote control to have a healthy laugh is classified as an act of political militancy. Broncano or Motorcycles? And whose are you? Makes you want to answer in the style of Don't tread on me, I'm wearing flip flops: From Marujita!
