The last quarter of 2023 has stood out for a slight increase in criminal activity, with the exception of Sant Adrià de Besòs, which is summarized by a decrease in conventional crimes, meaning homicides, serious crimes, sexual assaults, robberies or robberies, in the three cities of Barcelonès Nord: Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Sant Adrià. What is striking, however, is an alarming increase in crimes against sexual freedom. In the three municipalities, an average of 7.2 penetrative sexual assaults are reported each month.

In the three cities of Baix Besòs, crimes against sexual freedom have increased by 37%. Thus, Badalona has registered 109 of these complaints, 37 of them as sexual assaults with penetration and the rest crimes against sexual freedom. Sant Adrià de Besòs has multiplied rapes by 266.7%, accounting for 11 sexual assaults and 15 crimes against sexual freedom.

In crimes whose direct responsibility falls on the local police, the efforts of the Baix Besòs staff and the collaborations between municipalities, added to the interaction with the Mossos d'Esquadra, have given a downward balance in the last quarter of the year in robberies in homes by 25.7% and robberies with violence and intimidation by 13.9%, even so, in Badalona in the last quarter of the year there were 542 robberies with force in homes and establishments, 176 in Santa Coloma and 145 in Sant Adrià de Besòs, this last municipality is the only one in which the overall conventional crime ratio drops by 4.1%.

On the other hand, Badalona is the city where the most thefts have been reported at the end of 2023, a total of 3,969 in three months. For its part, in Santa Coloma and Sant Adrià it has been possible to contain the avalanche of small thefts without criminal incidence, 1,508 in the city of Cologne and 1,068 in the city of Adrian.

Figures that can be distorted in crime analyzes if the demographic issue is not taken into account. Thus, the criminal activity index is balanced in the region since Badalona, the third largest city in Catalonia, has 224,301 inhabitants, according to Idescat, while Santa Coloma has 119,195. The smallest municipality, Sant Adrià, has 37,906 inhabitants.

In summary, in Badalona there have been 14,156 criminal offenses, which means that every month five citizens of Badalona suffer a crime. In Santa Coloma, with 5,312 crimes, the impact index indicates that more than seven residents are victims of illegal activities every 30 days and in Sant Adrià de Besòs, with 3,736 crimes reported, there are just over three residents who report being subjected to illegal activities every month. of some criminal act.

It should be noted that the statistics that the Ministry of the Interior has been publishing quarterly for a few months now include criminal offenses through cyber or cybercrimes that are often perpetrated by criminals who are not established in the territory. This adds to the global statistics that 3,296 computer crimes have occurred in Barcelona in three months, most of them scams.
