More than a dozen rabbits are found dead in Turó Park in Barcelona

Barcelona City Council has found a total of 12 dead rabbits in the Turó Parc de Barcelona, located in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, in the last few days. This is what Betevé has informed this Jew.

According to said media, the deceased animals have been found within the work of the Barcelona City Council itself to capture some specimens and thus reduce the rabbit population in the area, which has grown in recent years.

It was this past summer when an "overpopulation" of rabbits was detected in the Turó Parc in the Catalan capital, according to the Barcelona City Council: in June they began to talk about "new tenants", but in August it was already highlighted that the number of specimens did not stop growing.

As for the 12 rabbits that have been found lifeless in recent days in the area, they would have died from a viral disease, according to the Wildlife Ecopathology Service (SEFaS) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in a report. This is how Betevé has also collected it and, therefore, poisoning is ruled out.

According to the same medium, the Generalitat has assured that the situation is "within normality" while the municipal services continue to bet on their strategy of capturing specimens "to control the population", among other reasons.
