For the fourth consecutive year, the Generalitat and the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation are promoting Mobile Week Catalonia, with the aim of promoting a space where citizens can connect with technology. This year, Mobile Week Catalonia is celebrated in 16 localities and territories in the country, introducing the latest developments in the digital world in different formats and open and free activities aimed at the different age groups of the population.

There are more than 300 activities for all ages, with 500 speakers throughout the territory and more than 450 hours of learning where citizens can experience, learn and reflect on technology.

With proposals as varied as workshops to provide the elderly with basic digital skills that give them autonomy in aspects such as electronic banking, electronic commerce; or robotics and activities for the little ones about STEAM vocations; going through talks to teenagers to combat misinformation, trainings for self-employed professionals and SMEs to digitize their business and improve cyber security, explore tablets adapted for the elderly to boost their use or experience first-hand new virtual worlds as it can be an immersive reality laboratory.

This year Badalona, Centelles, Figueres, Girona, Igualada, La Seu d'Urgell, Lleida, Manresa, Mataró, Mollerussa, Olesa de Montserrat, Ribera d'Ebre, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Pere de Ribes have joined the initiative. and Sitges, Terrassa and Vilanova i la Geltrú, with programs full of free proposals that place citizens at the center and make them participants in the technological revolution.

The program of activities addresses three main thematic lines such as the guarantee of human rights in digital spheres (including data privacy); the promotion of learning how to use digital tools in all age groups and vocations among young people - specifically among female profiles - for STEAM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, Graphic Arts and Mathematics); and the exploration of new tools and virtual worlds in the field of culture and entertainment.

This is a clear commitment by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation to tackle digital gaps and reach as many citizens as possible from all over the country so that they can enjoy, learn and reflect on the digital transformation in the current context.

The Vice President of the Government, Jordi Puigneró, assures that "we want the impact of the Mobile World Congress to reach the whole country. The digital revolution can be the social elevator of this country if we know how to prepare and train citizens, equip towns and cities with digital infrastructure and promote a new digital economy. We will not be a social country if we are not also, in its entirety, a digital country".

Likewise, the person in charge of Mobile Week at Mobile World Capital Barcelona, Cristina Colom, has reaffirmed the need for the commitment of all actors in society to reduce digital gaps and calls to "continue inspiring, debating and experimenting as a way to raise awareness and understand first-hand the advantages and challenges posed by the digital transformation in our society".
