Mercolleida is officially a state reference market

The Mercolleida agricultural market is, since March 7, a market of state reference after the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DACC) has approved, following a favorable report from its technical services, the request from the Lleida fish market.

With this step, the prices of the pork, beef and cereal markets become a state reference, while those of lamb, fodder and sweet fruit do so in certain communities or producing areas.

The DACC has already officially communicated this decision to the Ministry of Agriculture to include Llotja Agropecuària Mercolleida SA in the National Register of Reference Markets.

In pigs, a sector in which prices for fattened pigs and suckling pigs were already considered a Spanish reference, serving as the basis for more than 90% of the purchases and sales of pigs carried out throughout the Spanish territory, this recognition, According to Mercolldida, it gives prestige to the market and values its trajectory, as well as including references to the sow, also of national scope.

The same occurs with beef and, especially, with cereal, a market that has been gaining ground thanks to the quality of the reports that are generated, as well as the relationships that Mercolleida has been consolidating lately with operators and other commercial agents. In this sense, the auction highlights "the role it has played as a source of information on the grain market since the war in Ukraine began."

In the sheep market, those of lamb in its variety of weights are considered as reference prices in Catalonia, Huesca and Zaragoza, while with those of fodder, they become a reference in Catalonia, Aragon and Navarra while the prices of fruit dulce are considered reference in Catalonia and Aragon.
