The councilor for the Inclusive and Healthy City of the Mataró City Council (Maresme), Laura Seijo, has presented the "Smart home care" project that has received a subsidy from Next Generation European funds of 362,552.04 euros, out of 378,722.04 euros of the overall cost. The initiative is aimed mainly at people who live alone and who have a degree of dependency or some mental health problem with the aim of offering them smart devices for their homes that allow them to increase their personal autonomy and quality of life.
It is based on the idea of the importance of promoting research and innovation, in order to prepare studies on the current and future needs of social care. It is essential to collect, generate and share knowledge about intervention models, the causes and factors that affect the demand for services to anticipate the response and update services in the short, medium and long term.
One of the lines of the project is based on the sensorization of homes through non-invasive devices that seek to avoid risks or health problems in people's daily lives by recording their daily routines.
The requirements to participate in this project, completely free for citizens, are having Wi-Fi, living alone, an optimal cognitive level, having a degree I or II of dependency or not having a recognized degree but presenting difficulties in carrying out basic activities. of daily life, be over 65 years old and/or have a recognized degree of disability of more than 65% and do not have pets.
The other line of the project is the “Connect to SAD” device that is installed on the television so that the user can access a platform to make video calls, access leisure options, and have online monitoring through the customer service. at home offered by municipal social services, as well as monitoring their health and fighting unwanted loneliness. In this case, the requirements to have this technology are having Wi-Fi, living alone, an optimal cognitive level, having a degree I or II of dependency or not having a recognized degree but presenting difficulties in carrying out the basic activities of daily life, be over 65 years old and/or have a recognized degree of disability of more than 65%, do not have pets and have a smart television with HDMI connection.
Interested citizens can contact the municipal Social Welfare service. These two initiatives, which are now in the development phase and attracting interested citizens, will be applied during 2024 and the evaluation will be done in 2025. The project is part of the call for subsidies from the Department of Social Rights within the framework of the Reconstruction, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU program.
