Manga Barcelona and its dance contest to be more international

For years now, the Manga Barcelona show has become an essential and internationally known event, especially in the otaku world. But that does not stop the organizers from still wanting to cross more borders. Therefore, year after year they think about how to improve and this edition they have turned their usual K-Pop dance contest into an official event. So much so, that the winner will go to the grand final, which will be held in June 2024 in Catania, Italy.

“We already had a K-Pop contest but we have extended it to something European and renamed K-Pop Dance Fight Fest. The contestants dance to Korean pop music, the best of them will be able to go to Italy next year to participate in the grand finale,” says Meritxell Puig, director of Ficomic.

Anyone who wants to see something different can do so this Sunday on the large stage set up in the hall, at 12:30 p.m. A total of sixteen groups and four soloists will perform there, who have been previously selected by a jury made up of Ficomic and Vice2Dance staff.

As stated in the contest rules, the contest is limited to original songs by artists in the K-pop field and, therefore, to songs that have been presented in Korean shows for the market. Fun is assured.
