Madrid will expand the offer of infants from 0-3 years in three new centers and will expand the number of classrooms in another two

The Ministry of Education, Science and Universities will extend the offer of the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (from zero to three years) in three new public centers in the Community next year, while expanding the number of classrooms in two other centers that already They teach it, as the counselor, Emilio Viciana, announced this Tuesday.

To this end, the regional Executive will invest more than 670,000 euros in renovation and equipment works to adapt the infrastructure to the new students, a measure that is contained in the regional Birth Strategy, which also offers aid for maternity and paternity to facilitate Reconciling work and family life.

With these measures, almost 3,600 places will be reached for this stage, as Viciana explained during her visit to the Andrés Torrejón school in Móstoles, where this initiative has already been running since last September.

The centers that will offer this stage for the first time are the CEIP Jorge Guillén in the capital, Pablo Sarasate in Móstoles and Santa Teresa de Moraleja in Enmedio, while the Ciudad de Valencia in Madrid and the Ciudad del Aire in Alcalá de Henares will increase their units .

With these additions, there will now be 82 public schools in the region that will benefit from this pioneering measure, which was launched in the 2022/23 academic year.

This model allows the participating centers to have all the courses of the first cycle of Infants (babies, 1 and 2 years): eight places in the case of infant classrooms, 14 in those for 1-2 years and 20 places for those of 2-3.

The creation of these classes, which prioritizes areas where there is high demographic growth and high demand for places, "is part of the Birth Strategy of the Community of Madrid, which also offers aid for maternity and paternity to facilitate the conciliation of work and family life," Viciana stressed.

Along these same lines, the Community of Madrid is building five new public nursery schools for the next 2024/25 academic year in the districts of Arganzuela, Villaverde, and in the neighborhoods of El Cañaveral, Ensanche de Vallecas and Valdebebas of the capital.

The works on all of them are already underway and will involve an investment of 17 million euros and the creation of nearly 1,000 school places.
