Madrid will celebrate in El Puente del Rey the first 'mascletà' agreed with Valencia on February 18

The Puente del Rey, located in Madrid Río, will host next Sunday, February 18, the 'mascletà' that the capital will celebrate, the first time it will be held outside the Valencian Community, as announced by the mayor of the city , José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Europa Press reports.

"I am convinced that all of Madrid Río will be a hive of people willing to enjoy an unparalleled spectacle such as the 'mascletà'," the mayor stated this Monday before journalists from the Plaza de la Villa.

According to him, the choice of Puente del Rey is due to the fact that it meets the necessary technical and security requirements, in addition to offering one of the "most beautiful panoramic views of the capital", at the foot of the Almudena Cathedral and the Palace. Real.

The City Council has justified that this location will allow the 'mascletà' to be "a celebration for everyone, in which families, young people and adults can share this event of Valencian and Spanish culture."

To this, they added that this celebration will be possible thanks to "the good disposition" of the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá. This activity is within the collaboration protocol that the two city councils signed at the last International Tourism Fair (Fitur) to promote mutual promotion actions and will be financed by the capital's City Council.

The Consistory of Valencia and Madrid set the weekend of February 17 and 18, prior to the Crida - an event in which the starting signal for the Fallas is given with the call of the Falleras Mayores to participate in the holidays-- as the date on which the first mascletà will be fired in the capital of Spain, by Pirotecnia Valenciana.
