La Vanguardia takes a new leap in the quality of its services and is now also committed to sustainability in the distribution of its newspapers. This March, in the first days of the month, the Godó Group will begin the distribution of copies in Barcelona and other neighboring towns in the metropolitan area with a fleet of latest generation electric vehicles.

It will be a “clean” delivery, without contamination and also with vehicles specifically designed to adapt to the particular needs of press delivery, such as three-wheeled scooters and a platform to transport the newspaper copies.

The company Marina BCN Distribucions, part of the Godó Group, is in charge of distributing the press every day in the province of Barcelona. To implement this sustainability plan, an electric fleet of 22 motorcycles and 28 personal mobility vehicles (VMP) has been acquired to bring La Vanguardia copies to its customers, for door-to-door delivery. A total of 14,000 readers who buy this newspaper every day will benefit, 12,000 of them subscribers.

The brand new delivery fleet – which will replace the traditional vans – will also mean improvements in the mobility of a large city like Barcelona (by removing these vehicles from the streets) and also decongesting traffic, by putting an end to those occasional parking spaces. and repeated for newspaper distribution.

To launch this pioneering initiative, there is a staff of 65 professionals from the company Marina BCN Distribucions. These electric vehicles in charge of delivering copies to homes and points of sale will depart every morning from 7 strategically located points in Barcelona, equipped with electric charging systems.

With the electrification of deliveries, La Vanguardia reinforces its commitment to the quality of the service it provides to its readers daily. Not only is it guaranteed that the newspapers arrive every morning at the points of sale and the homes of their subscribers in Barcelona and surrounding areas in the best conditions and times; With this project we are committed to minimal pollution in the offer of this service. A measure that the reader will undoubtedly value.

The Godo Group's initiative for the new distribution of La Vanguardia is a firm step towards the environmental sustainability of the distribution of its newspapers. There is the data. The new 100% electric fleet will prevent the emission of 71 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, thus contributing to improving air quality and minimizing the environmental footprint of newspaper distribution. The new fleet will collect the specimens at the designated strategic points to begin the personalized distribution from there without noise or pollution.
