Juanele, admitted after suffering a stroke

The former Sporting, Tenerife and Zaragoza footballer, Juan Castaño Quirós 'Juanele', has been admitted to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) since last night after suffering a stroke, sources close to the former player have told EFE.

The same sources have explained that the 52-year-old former Spanish international began to feel unwell while having dinner and was taken by ambulance to the health center in the Asturian capital. Juanele arrived at the medical center in the Asturian region conscious and would have even been the one who would have explained to the health workers what would have happened to him. 'Juanele' trained at Sporting, with whom he debuted in the first team at a time when the Gijón team rubbed shoulders with the big clubs in the First Division.

In addition to the red-and-white club, Juanele played - always in the First Division and on some occasions competing in continental competitions - in Tenerife and Zaragoza, a club with which he won two Copas del Rey, but during his time in the Maño team he began to have problems and he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder that ended his sports career at the age of 35.

On the 8th, the former player presented his book "My Truth" in which he reviews his life with special attention to the non-sports part after detecting bipolar disorder or his double stint in prison.
