Journalist and writer Antonio Burgos dies

The Andalusian journalist and writer Antonio Burgos died this Wednesday in Seville at the age of 80, victim of a respiratory illness, as reported by ABC, the newspaper of which he was a collaborator.

Born on May 30, 1943 and graduated in Philosophy and Letters at the University of Seville and in Romance Philology at the University of Madrid, he had, among other distinctions, that of Favorite Son of Andalusia.

He began his career as a journalist in 1966, when he joined the newspaper ABC, where he had initially developed an internship, and also collaborated with the magazines Hermano Lobo and La Codorniz, in addition to being a correspondent in Andalusia for Diario Madrid and Revista Triunfo.

He was the first columnist with a website created in 1977, and maintained his daily article under the name of El Recuadro, which he had published on ABC until a few days ago.

He had been awarded the Andalusia Journalism Award for Professional Career in the XXXVIII edition of these awards, which he was going to receive on December 26.
