Jon Rahm and Fede Valverde

Jon Rahm is already, on his own merits, one of the greats of Spanish sport. On Sunday, the man from Barrika won the Augusta Golf Masters and, after thanking the course maintenance workers for the work they did to keep the grass in perfect condition, it occurred to him to say: "Happy Easter, rest in peace, It looks". He did not spare a word. He is not even 30 years old and to say that after a victory in one of the greats shows that he has a well-furnished head. On social networks the ovation he received was closed.

The Basque –Rahm is Spanish and boasts of it– has already shown on more than one occasion that he is one of those athletes who is clear about his origins. First premise, for almost everything in life: keep in mind where you come from. On Monday the tweeter @amoroscuatro recalled that in the master's degree in Madrid he spent two hours signing autographs for the children. "I'm going to be here until it's over," he said to the kids who crowded around him. A fan told him that he was earning heaven and he replied: "I'm delighted." "Thank you, Jon, you are the best", sentenced a boy.

Rahm's attitude contrasts with another event, in this case very unfortunate, which took place in a sport very different from golf. The Real Madrid footballer Fede Valverde punched Álex Baena after the game against Villarreal and, of course, the networks also gave a good account of what happened.

Another basic premise: violence must be outside of civilized life. Whoever it is, all physical aggression is intolerable, especially in sports. It is unjustifiable. However, there are those who believe not. What has been seen since Sunday about Valverde's action are diverse reactions. The majority, of condemnation; but there are also those who try to justify it. The problem in these cases is that fanaticism clouds the view.

Real Madrid is a club with millions of fans all over the world. In Asia there are young people who want to learn Spanish just because they watch the games of the greats of the League or because they follow Messi. Everything that happens around the white club generates an avalanche of reactions. And there are profiles dedicated exclusively to spreading and defending what the team does. Since Sunday his activity is intense.

We don't know what happened between Valverde and Baena off the field. It would be pertinent to know, of course. But nothing justifies that blow. An apology, from the footballer and the club, would not hurt. It is sport and the example comes first. Therefore: congratulations Jon, aupa txapeldun.
