Jankto, expelled from Sparta after avoiding a drug control: "It is better to stop"

Jakub Jankto, Getafe's Czech midfielder on loan at Sparta Prague, has reached his limit. The Czech international, who last February became the first footballer from a LaLiga Santander club to openly declare himself homosexual, is experiencing a difficult moment on a personal level. On Tuesday he was reported to the police for erratic driving and refused before the agents to submit to a police control. A gesture that has cost him the expulsion of the team, as confirmed yesterday by Sparta Prague in a statement.

The Czech player has wanted to explain in first person everything he has experienced in the last hours and has done so through a message on social networks in which he asks to move away from the media spotlight to recover. "In recent years, and especially in the last one, so much has accumulated around me that it's better to slow down and think about my health. Since I was 18, my whole life has revolved around football. It has given me a lot, He has taken some things from me and has always given me lessons", he wrote.

Despite this sad ending, Jankto wanted to thank Sparta for all their support: "It has not been my best sporting year, but I have always preferred the club's results. I am even more sorry that my health and mental state do not allow me to continue fighting for the League and for the Cup. I can't find words to thank Sparta. Thank you to all the players, coaches and fans! I also appreciate the support of all the people around me, including the media, where we always show respect to each other mutual".

Sparta Prague announced yesterday through an official statement that it was ceasing to have the services of the midfielder on loan from Getafe: "Sparta's A team continues without Jakun Jankto. The player is not prepared to fulfill the obligations that arise of a professional contract and is not available to the coach".

The drastic measure was adopted a day after the soccer player was intercepted by the police when a driver alerted that there was a vehicle in the vicinity of the Strahov Stadium apparently driving under the influence of alcohol. Jankto failed a breathalyzer test but refused to take a drug test. The Czech international had also lost his driver's license earlier this year and was pending an administrative decision to get it back.
