The IU candidate for mayor of Ubrique (Cádiz), José Manuel Gómez, is receiving "harsh harassment" on networks for a manipulated video of his intervention in an electoral debate in which some user has retouched it, pretending that it escaped him a wind and it has gone viral.
The provincial leadership of Izquierda Unida Cádiz has condemned this fact, which is harming the image of its candidate in that town in Cadiz after "being the subject of a manipulated video obtained from his intervention in an electoral debate held on Canal Sierra de Cádiz."
This has been reported by the party in a statement, where it has added that the provincial coordinator of IU Cádiz, Jorge Rodríguez, has shown his support for José Manuel and has indicated that "not everything goes", at the same time that he has regretted the "total intention to discredit and damage the public image of our colleague from Ubrique", causing "a video seeking mockery to go viral".
The provincial leader condemns the events and announces that Izquierda Unida is going to file a complaint in order to clarify the authorship of the person or persons who have manipulated the video and subsequently distributed it through social networks.
Thus, Rodríguez has asked the Justice to "work as quickly as possible so that the person or persons can be identified", while he has trusted that "there is no political organization, because it is clear that there is an intention behind this fake, and we ask public opinion to clearly support our partner".
The provincial leader reiterated "our full support and affection for a comrade who has only tried to make clear left-wing proposals for Ubrique in this electoral campaign, who has not had the luck that we all expected, but without a doubt, it is an important value for IU in Ubrique, he is our militant, he has done what he could with the tools he has had and Izquierda Unida will continue working in Ubrique hand in hand with José Manuel and other colleagues from the Local Assembly" .
The Sierra de Cádiz Channel, for its part, has published the original fragment of the debate to clarify that "it is the result of someone's manipulation and malice because it is flatly false" and encourages anyone who wants to spread it to "participate in defending the honor of this man".
