Incasòl buys 32 flats from the bank in Reus to dedicate them to social rental

The Institut Català del Sòl (Incasòl) has acquired 32 flats owned by the banking entity CaixaBank in Reus for social rental. The Government has purchased them for three million euros and will allocate another 150,000 euros to their adaptation.

The Secretary of Habitatge of the Department of Territory, Marina Berasategui, has highlighted that the properties "are in very good condition" and could be awarded from the second quarter of 2024.

The apartments represent a third of the ninety apartments that the financial institution had allocated for social rental in 2011. However, for a few years, they have been left empty with the end of the contracts. Now, Incasòl has acquired them with the desire that they be social housing "forever."

The apartments have a useful surface area that ranges between 53 and 60 square meters, designed for between one and four people to live in.

All of them have two bedrooms, a kitchen open to the dining room, a bathroom and an interior laundry area. One of the properties is adapted for people with reduced mobility, it only has one room.

The purchase also includes storage rooms and parking spaces linked to the homes.

According to the director of Incasòl, Maria Sisternas, before making these thirty apartments available to the public, "a small adaptation project is missing" for each of the buildings, which will consist, for the most part, of relocating the doors, reviewing the electrical connections and carry out a review of the kitchens.

Asked about rental prices, Sisternas assured that the subsidized housing module could be around 7.5 euros for each square meter. However, she has stressed that the final price will end up adjusting to the needs of each family.

With these thirty flats located in Calle Bernat Torroja in Reus, Incasòl has already acquired 193 homes owned by large owners for social rental: 98 in Vilanova i la Geltrú, 19 in Constantí (Tarragonès), 24 in Salt (Gironès) ), 20 in Valls and the latter 32 in Reus. All of them are part of a program promoted by the Government to incorporate 10,000 homes in the social rental park of Catalonia until 2026.
