Illa foresees that the Government and Generalitat will unravel the B-40 "long before the municipal elections"

The leader of the PSC and the opposition in Catalonia, Salvador Illa, says he trusts "a lot" in the word of the president of the Generalitat in relation to his signed commitment for the execution of the B-40, the section of the Curto Cinturón between Terrassa, Sabadell and Catellar del Vallès, which the Socialists tied up in the pact for this year's budgets.

So much so that, despite the existing "frictions" between the central and Catalan governments over the layout and financing of the road, the matter will be unraveled "long before the municipal ones", he has predicted.

Illa has participated this Friday in a Cercle d'Infraestructures forum at the World Trade Center in Barcelona, where she has referred to the infrastructure priorities in Catalonia and has taken stock of recent years in this area. After highlighting the necessary policy of collaboration between administrations so that the necessary infrastructures to generate prosperity are carried out, the Socialist leader recalled that there is already an agreement on the B-40, which must be executed.

“This has already been agreed. It has been agreed to do the stretch, with the 2 2 system -two lanes in each direction- and in terms of the calendar, it has to be resolved well before the municipal elections ”, Illa demanded.

The leader has expressed his "confidence" that the agreement between the Government and the Generalitat for the execution of the work will soon be signed. In this sense, he has said that he trusts a lot in the word of President Pere Aragonès while he has relegated the "frictions" that both administrations have shown to date.

The Government and the Generalitat do not agree on the layout of the track, nor on its composition, nor on its financing. The Catalan Executive rejects that the road ends up being a highway, preferring an "urban road" with less capacity; In addition, they deny the nomenclature 'B-40', considering that this refers to the possibility that one day the route may continue to the Maresme through the Roca del Vallès. The Government prefers to speak of the Fourth Belt, so that the road does not have the possibility of going beyond Sabadell, and it does not agree with the financing formula proposed by the central Executive, through the third additional provision.

In this sense, Illa has defended that the management entrustment that is foreseen, that is, the financing by the State and that it is the Generalitat that executes the work, "is a good formula because it commits the two administrations". According to the socialist leader, "it is a good way to do it and it goes in the right direction", along the lines of "collaboration between administrations.

Although Illa says she has "good prospects" regarding the signing of the agreement between the Government and the Generalitat, in the party they are also aware that in the electoral period in which we find ourselves, anything can happen, for this reason they warn of "what is play” the president if he does not comply with what was agreed in the budgets: “His credibility will be destroyed”, they warn.
