The father and mother of a first-year ESO student from the La Valira institute, in La Seu d'Urgell, denounced a teacher from this secondary school last week to the Mossos d'Esquadra for sexual harassment, whom the The center's management has already withdrawn from teaching.
The Catalan police assure that the student's family filed a complaint a week ago at the police station against the teacher for "inappropriate acts" and the lawyer who attended her has declined to comment on the case.
The Mossos d'Esquadra transferred the file to the investigating court of La Seu d'Urgell, according to the newspaper Segre.
The investigated professor, who maintains the situation of freedom, has a restraining order regarding the victim and the prohibition of communication with her by any means, in accordance with the request of the public prosecutor's office and the private prosecution.
The case is open, since the beginning of June due to the complaint of the minor for various crimes of sexual assault due to touching, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia has reported.
Some procedures have already been carried out, including the statement of the complainant, the statement of the investigated teacher and that of several witnesses.
For its part, the Ministry of Education has ensured that the La Valira Institute of La Seu d'Urgell, as soon as it became aware of the facts, applied the protocol for prevention, detection, notification, referral and coordination of situations of child abuse and teenager in the educational field "which means removing the teacher while the Mossos d'esquadra investigate the facts".
