“I cut Puigdemont's hair: he doesn't give a damn about his appearance!”

Hairdressing grandparents?

Yes: my mother, a hairdresser who is now 90 years old, and who still radiates charisma, was born, raised and worked in her salon!

What is charisma?

Work without ever complaining. Today everyone is complaining!

And you?

I saw that I liked that and I worked from eight in the morning to eleven at night.

Stand.

Discipline, will and courage: essential virtues of a good hairdresser.

Is that the key?

Deeply love what you do, without limits or schedules. And obsession with perfection. Ah, one more thing.

That?

Psychological penetration to quickly capture the best in each person, and strengthen them.

Do you have that capacity?

There are many kinds of beauty: I see them.

As?

With a brief dialogue with the client: I don't stop at the hair, I look for a total look.

Have you styled famous heads?

Tim Burton was here yesterday: he's here to ruffle his hair. His hairstyle is disheveled.

More heads.

All the royal heads from Infanta Cristina's wedding, in addition to those of Aznar, Ana Botella, oh, and Carla Bruni!

What's up with Bruni?

It is divine and of unprecedented intelligence.

And Aznar?

Once she left her hair looking shabby. And luckily that mustache was lowered.

Do you see hair differences between Barcelona and Madrid?

Barcelona is more European and international. Madrid is more classic. There, in Madrid, all the women have long hair.

Oh yeah?

They are all too similar: there is a lack of spark. There I once did the hair of a twenty-year-old Claudia Schiffer, and I tied up her hair.

You like short hair, don't you?

Short hair allows them to distinguish themselves.

What differences do you detect between Spanish and French women?

The French woman has finer hair with better fall, but she takes less care of herself than the Spanish woman, whose hair is shinier and healthier.

Where is hair fashion going?

Plurality. And the gray hair comes in strong.

Ah, well I'm in fashion.

I mean women, now. Women over fifty now dare to show off their gray hair and do it with elegance.

What do you see when a new client arrives?

Some arrive crying: they see their hair destroyed, mauled by unreliable hairdressers.

What damages hair the most?

Smoke and drink. And rapid hair loss can cause depression...

So many men going to Türkiye...

There are very good dermatologists here, although twice as expensive, yes.

Would you do a hair transplant?

If I were 25 years old I would do it, yes, so as not to suffer from complexes.

Not now?

At my age, I don't feel that need. What is relevant is your personality, in the end. There are very attractive bald people, and people who are not at all despite having all their hair.

Point me to an inspiring hairdresser.

Jacques Dessange, who died recently at the age of 94: I was twenty years old and he allowed me to work in his salon in Paris.

Why else does he deserve your admiration?

Because he was self-taught and made his “disheveled hairstyles” famous. Of course, his empire has grown so much through franchises... that he has lost that original personality. That's something I've learned.

What have you learned?

That I must not lose the trust of my clients, the personal treatment: I have been taking care of some of them for thirty years. That's valuable.

Do they tell you many secrets?

We talk a lot. Even more so in their difficult moments... “You have changed my life” was the best compliment I have ever heard.

How do politicians wear their hair?

They should take better care of them. I have cut Carles Puigdemont's hair and styled it.

And how was that experience?

He is a great Francophile, but his appearance is not his priority at all, look at his always dark suit... He ignores his hair!

Give general advice to politicians.

Let them pull the hair out of their ears.

Are most hairdressers gay?

Not me, but 80% are: there is a special sensitivity. I love women in all aspects and I am happy pampering them.

Are you more of a psychologist or more of an artist?

Artist, psychologist, craftsman, educated conversationalist, sculptor, aesthete... And always scissors in hand! I travel with scissors. They will bury me with my scissors, that's for sure.
