Hoteliers want an air connection with the US: the North American tourist, the second from Valencia

After a record Holy Week, the hoteliers of the Valencian Community take stock of the first fortnight of April and their analysis reveals some curiosities, such as that tourists from the United States are already the second in the city of Valencia (7 .4%), only behind the British (10.1%).

It is one of the curious readings of the figures offered this Wednesday by Hosbec, the hotel business association of the Valencian Community, which highlights that this nationality of international travelers is already the second in the city of Valencia, despite not having a direct flight. And they point out that Americans even appear in Alicante with 1.8% representation, always behind the British and with a big difference.

It is after this reading that Hosbec insists on the opportunity of establishing a direct air connection between the Valencian Community and the United States, "these data from the American market suggest that the work for the direct connection must continue since this level of demand exists, it is an objective with great possibilities of success in the medium term”, points out Fede Fuste, president of the hotel association.

They were working on the matter in recent days on a trip to New York, where Hosbec traveled with the Generalitat Valenciana to publicize the tourist offer of the Valencian Community to more than 100 tour operators and the American media. In the mission there was also a meeting -in which the three Valencian airports participated- with the airline JetBlue Airways, to explore medium-term possibilities of a direct connection between the Valencian Community and New York.

Analysis of the figures for American tourism in the city of Valencia in the last year shows an increase of nearly 1,500 travelers in the first month of the year, of which there are updated records in both cases to compare. In January 2022, 2,364 North American tourists who stayed in hotels and apartments visited the city, while in January of this year there were 3,819, according to figures from Visit València.

In that ranking, Americans are the third international travelers, behind Italy and the United Kingdom, but this Easter, according to Hosbec records provided today, Americans have already climbed one position.
