British actor Henry Cavill has been fired from his role as Superman two months after announcing his big return to the screens. This abrupt goodbye comes amid a massive reorganization at Warner Bros. and the hiring of the new heads of the saga, James Gunn and Peter Safran.
In October 2022, Gunn and Sagan were named co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios, overseeing film, television, and animation projects. Gunn runs the creative side and Safran runs the commercial side of the division. Both assumed their positions on November 1, 2022. And that has been the last straw for Cavill.
The actor took to Instagram on Wednesday to break the news to his 22.9 million followers that he will not return as Superman on screen.
"I just met with James Gunn and Peter Safran and I'm afraid I have some bad news. After all, I'm not coming back as Superman.
