Have you ever heard crotoreo?

In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we invite you today to listen to the sound of nature that the storks offer us, especially at this time of year when spring appears.

The most characteristic sound of storks is a peculiar chattering noise produced by clashing their jaws, known as "crotoreo".

These birds make this sound as a greeting to their partner. And, precisely, these days are when they are mating and building their nests to expand their family.

Although in this case they are storks that are passing through Manlleu, in the Osona region, on their migratory path north after winter.

The word "crotorar" has the meaning of "making a noise like a stork" and comes from the onomatopoeia "crooot", which is the "sound that storks make."

The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a large species of bird. Its plumage is mostly white with black on the wings. And the legs and beak of adults acquire a red color. It measures an average of 100 and 115 cm from the tip of the beak to the end of the tail, and its wings can reach a span between 155 and 215 cm.
