Grifols sells 20% of Shanghai Raas to Haier for 1.6 billion euros

Grifols announced this morning the sale of 20% of the Shanghai Raas company to the multinational Haier for an amount of 1.8 billion US dollars, which is equivalent to approximately 1.6 billion euros.

The Catalan multinational blood products company has retained a 6.58% stake, according to a statement issued this morning. In this way, the current strategic commercial collaboration agreements between Grifols and Shanghai Raas remain in force. In fact, Grifols will maintain a member on the board of directors in the Chinese group.

With this operation, the Catalan firm founded by the Grifols family maintains its presence in China, continues with its commercial agreements with this company, and at the same time, fulfills its deleveraging commitment to reduce debt.

In addition, Grifols and Shanghai Raas will modify the exclusive distribution agreement to supply larger quantities of albumin – plasma protein – in the Chinese market, to extend its current duration for an initial period of 10 years, until 2034.
