Government and PP postpone their meeting in Brussels to renew the Judiciary due to González Pons' influenza A

The meeting scheduled this Monday in Brussels between the Government, the PP and the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, to negotiate the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary is postponed to February 19 because the PP negotiator, Esteban González Pons , is sick with influenza A.

Sources from the Popular Party have indicated that their Deputy Secretary of Institutional Affairs has been suffering from fever due to influenza A since Thursday morning and that this Friday afternoon he asked the Minister of Justice, Félix Bolaños, and Commissioner Reynders to postpone their meeting due to the possibility of continuing indisposed next Monday, and with the aim of not keeping their agendas blocked.

The PP has indicated that the three parties have agreed to meet on Monday, February 19, also in Brussels to continue the negotiation, where there are opposing positions.

The Government demands that the Popular Party comply with the Constitution and renew the governing body of the judges, while the PP makes the renewal subject to the simultaneous implementation of a reform of the organic law of the Judiciary so that the judges directly elect twelve of the twenty members of the CGPJ.

The new meeting between both parties, mediated by the European Commission, will be held one day after the Galician elections.
