Francesco Tristano returns to the Palau with a trip to the Baroque

Francesco Tristano, the composer who breaks with the ordinary, who composes both classical and electronic music, will present his new work On early music next Monday at the Palau de la Música Catalana. A most interesting piece, where he combines his own productions with those of baroque composers.

The versatile musician dedicates his latest album to early music that he began producing in 2019 and explains that the English preposition "on" could not be missing from the title: "I wanted to title the album Early Music, but suddenly I realized that I had to comment on this repertoire through a current look. This is a need that I had for some time, since I am interested above all in the times in which we live". Therefore, the preposition "on", to refer to the present.

In this concert, Tristano proposes "three ways of approaching" Renaissance composers Orlando Gibbons, Cristóbal de Morales, Girolamo Frescobaldi and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck with an unusual combination of grand piano and electronics. "The result of this work introduces us to a universe where past and present merge and overlap with exquisite taste, a dazzling breadth of resources," says musicologist and music critic Miquel Gené, an expert in Tristano's work.

On Early Music is much more than a tribute to the musical references of the baroque. The repertoire offers "a subtle and contemporary twist that achieves the composer's talent throughout his production, where he demonstrates his mastery of the studio and his good eye for detail", as indicated by the Palau. The performance can be viewed live via streaming and free of charge through the official website of the Palau de la Música Catalana.
