Four thieves caught red-handed stealing more than a thousand meters of copper cable in Albons

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested four thieves between 24 and 46 years old this Monday when they were trying to steal more than a thousand meters of copper cable in Albons, in the Baix Empordà (Girona).

According to the Catalan police in a statement, a plainclothes patrol saw a van in the middle of a field around eight-thirty in the afternoon.

Upon approaching, the officers observed three suspects around the vehicle and a fourth perched on the roof of the vehicle. This last suspect had a shear-type scissors in his hands and threw it when he realized the police presence. Just above, the agents have seen cut telephone cables. Although the van was empty, the agents followed the vehicle's tire marks and located 1,400 meters of cut telephone line.

The detainees, with police records, were placed at the disposal of the investigative court acting as guard in La Bisbal. The Mossos accuse them of crimes of damage and attempted theft.
