Foment has organized today in Barcelona in collaboration with the Government of Morocco a day to promote investment in the country, where in 2022 there were more than 1,600 Catalan companies that exported. Catalan sales to Morocco were 1,973 million, 10.1% more.

At the event, the Moroccan Minister in charge of Investment, Mohcine Jazouli, explained that allocating resources to the country has great potential due to "complementarities in sectors such as the automotive, aerospace, water management and tourism areas." Before some 200 businessmen and executives who gathered at the Foment headquarters in Barcelona, Jazouli added that "Morocco is the gateway to new markets" such as African countries.

The president of Foment, Josep Sánchez Llibre, has highlighted that there are also eight subsidiaries of Moroccan companies such as Royal Air Marroc with a presence in Catalonia. "In Spain, Catalonia and Morocco there are many opportunities. And we really want to understand each other and generate trust," said Sánchez Llibre.

For the Minister of Economy, Natàlia Mas, there is a way to grow in relations between Morocco and Catalonia. The head of Economy of the Generalitat recalled that "Mediterranean trade flows are less than a third of all foreign trade in the region despite these links."

On the part of the central government, the Minister of Industry, Jordi Hereu, could not participate because he was appearing in the Congress of Deputies. The Secretary of Industry, Rebeca Mariola Torró, gave a brief speech in which she assured that "Spain wants to be a reference investor for Morocco." According to the head of Industry, there are opportunities in sectors such as energy and especially in the development of green hydrogen.

The day ended with a discussion with attendees about investments in the country. José María Serra, from Ficosa, explained that he has invested between 40 and 50 million in a camera factory that produces from Morocco for the whole world. The manager has shown his concern about the exchange rate since they have a new investment in the country of between 50 and 60 additional million in their portfolio.
