Foment asks the Government and the parties to leave economic activity out of political marketing

Businessmen do not like the ups and downs that are occurring in Spanish politics regarding the way in which economic activity should be developed. The agreement between Junts and the Executive of Pedro Sánchez to encourage the return of companies that in 2017 took their headquarters outside of Catalonia has caused discomfort in business organizations. It is not yet known exactly what legislative changes will be adopted.

In a statement, Foment said that it "sees with concern how negotiation processes promote unpredictability and confusion in business activity." In the opinion of the employers, "the political context is becoming a brake on economic activity."

The organization chaired by Josep Sánchez Llibre has added that "the unpredictability and confusion caused by the different negotiation processes between parties and governments of all types entails, on the one hand, distrust and, on the other hand, inaction."

In the statement he wanted to make it clear that he maintains his position of not valuing political action and only referring to specific economic policies. "Now, the marketing of fiscal, social and economic proposals of all kinds, in the process of several negotiations, leads to an unbearable situation for business activity, in all its areas; from labor to investors." The Catalan employers demand "respect for businessmen and also for legal security."

Although without citing today's approval of the increase in the SMI (interprofessional minimum wage), Foment has criticized "the lightness with which essential issues are being treated" in the Social Dialogue.

Foment del Treball demands that governments and parties make an effort of rigor and prudence in order to be able to establish the economic policies that are deemed necessary, but without causing insecurity and distrust.
