Fog hangs over Sau's future

What future awaits the Sau reservoir, in Osona, if the drought continues to persist in Catalonia? Will it fall into disuse as a reservoir?... These are questions that arise when it is already at 4% of its capacity, a historical minimum.

The panorama of the reservoir is bleak, as seen in these images in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos. And, when it appears covered by fog, an atmosphere of uncertainty about the future in the face of the problem of climate change hangs over this epicenter of the drought in Catalonia.

The ruins of the ancient town, previously submerged under the waters of Sau, now bear witness to a past that has become present again. The cracked earth, the skeletons of lifeless trees, the little stagnant water... All of this makes up a landscape that attracts the attention of drought tourists.

The Sau reservoir has become one of the most photographed places in Catalonia in recent months, when, little by little, progressively, it has been losing flow.

Stepping where there used to be water, walking through previously flooded places, has become quite an attraction, but, at the same time, it is the reflection of a serious problem: the lack of rain. What future awaits the Sau reservoir in the fog?
