Flying over Sierra Nevada (still a little)

I have captured these photographs for La Vanguardia Readers' Photos flying over the Sierra Nevada, in Granada. We see very little snow in the images in contrast to the landscape.

It is a picture of the misfortune of the lack of rain in Spain and of a not very cold autumn, in short, of the meteorological situation that we are experiencing and that is also reflected in the landscape.

Sierra Nevada is a mountain massif belonging to the Penibetic System. In fact, it is the highest in all of Western Europe after the Alps. Its maximum altitude is reached at the Mulhacén peak, 3482 meters.

In 1986 it was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. In 1999, a large part of its territory was declared a National Park for its botanical, landscape and natural values.

From the privileged aerial view from the plane, you can see how much of the surface of the mountains is free of snow in mid-December.
