Five daring and different cars that you can still buy second-hand

The market has historically offered cars with an original image that escape the most common design canons. Some of them went unnoticed, others caused admiration and some triumphed in style. Motor fans remember cars with a controversial and at the same time very striking image such as the Fiat Multipla, the Renault Avantime, the Nissan Cube or the first generation of the Renault Twingo.

In any case, they were cars that have left their mark and that offer an attraction that does not exist in many current models, penalized by their little or no personality. In this selection we have selected five different cars that, in our opinion, maintain a high appeal. From them it is possible to find good opportunities on the second-hand market.

With the aim of covering the gap below the Civic, Honda presented in 2010 a daring 4.10 m long coupe, available at very competitive prices. The most innovative feature was its mechanical hybridization, having a 1.5-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric one, capable of jointly producing 124 HP. In 2013, it released an update that increased power to 137 HP, thanks to improvements made to both engines. In addition, it has an ECO label from the DGT.

In 2011, in the midst of expansion in the European markets, Hyundai dared to launch a 4.22 meter long coupe silhouette car, equipped with an important peculiarity: on the left side it had a door and on the right, fingers. It was a small additional door that facilitated access to the rear seats, which were quite limited in space. The gasoline engines available in its range produced powers of 140 and 186 HP respectively.

Derived from the Countryman, this car offered an attractive three-door body and a descending roof, with coupe characteristics. The cabin has a four-seat configuration and the trunk has a cargo capacity of 330 liters, expandable to a maximum of 1,080 liters. It was marketed with diesel engines of 112 and 143 HP, or in gasoline versions of 122, 184 and 218 HP, the latter corresponding to the sporty John Cooper Works All4 all-wheel drive versions.

Opel launched a car with an unconventional appearance and great customization possibilities that allowed it to achieve recognition for its design. In its range it had an efficient three-cylinder gasoline engine and in 2014 it added to its range a sportier Adam S version, sportier, equipped with a 1.4-liter Turbo engine with 150 HP. The IntelliLink infotainment system or parking assistance were rare equipment options in its segment.

Inspired by the mythical “Beetle”, the Beetle was launched in 2011 and achieved strong commercial success, thanks to its distinctive image of rounded lines with a youthful, sporty and exclusive character. The used market allows you to enjoy this car that, in its last delivery before ceasing production, offered efficient TSI gasoline engines with powers of 105, 150 and 220 HP. It can also be found in a Cabrio version and with TDI diesel engines, in this case 110 and 150 HP.
