Five creators fill Louis Vuitton's most artistic bag with surrealism, 3D and illustration

The fifth edition of Louis Vuitton's Artycapucines bag collection exudes limitless creativity and combines the French brand's iconic Capucine bags with the unique vision of five prominent contemporary artists: Liza Lou, Ziping Wang, Tursic

American artist Liza Lou, who rose to prominence in the 1990s, explores notions of social consciousness and materiality through her large-scale sculptures, paintings and installations. Sculpting a whimsical trompe-l'oeil pearl creation, Lou wraps the Capucine bag with one of her Cloud paintings to create a delicate, soft pastel piece. To achieve a trompe-l'oeil effect, the French brand has developed a new embossing technology with a pattern of glass beads woven onto supple leather, carefully wrapping the Capucine bag to reflect the organic shapes of the original works, while creating unique exterior pockets.

Chinese-born creator Ziping Wang explores the stunning visual effects of digital advertising in the modern era through her paintings and illustrations, from still lifes to geometric motifs. Playfully reinterpreting Louis Vuitton codes through a kaleidoscopic lens, Wang's mini-Capucines, the smallest yet created by Artycapucines, combine a graphic motif reminiscent of the iconic Damier with chromatic embellishments. With a touch of fantasy, the creation evokes candy wrappers.

The creative duo made up of the Serbian Ida Tursic and the Frenchman Wilfried Mille, collaborators for more than twenty years, come with their painting-on-painting technique with a liberating approach in a conceptual key. Tursic y Mille's bag, lined in yellow Taurillon leather and featuring two flower-shaped panels, features detailed stitching and colorful painting for sensory immersion, evidencing the duo's passion for fusing different mediums. Completed with a wooden handle, the model nods to artists' canvases.

Ewa Juszkiewicz, Polish portrait painter, reconstructs conventional ideas of female beauty, contrasting traditional European painting with surrealism, in order to create hybrid figures. And she uses 3D digital printing to capture her Ginger Locks painting on the soft leather of the Artycapucines bag, with the brand's initials camouflaged in the design. A delicate string of pearls adorns the side like a necklace, while a leather envelope hidden inside evokes love letters of the past.

South African artist Billie Zangewa adorns the accessory with her gold silk patchwork work. The swimming lesson depicts a scene of her son Mika at the edge of a sparkling pool, adorned with hand-sewn beads and metallic thread to create a sparkling reflection, and three Monogram penguin pendants in an ode to their absolute love
