First images of King Carlos III after revealing that he suffers from cancer

This afternoon, King Charles III left Clarence House, his residence while Buckingham Palace continues to undergo renovations, after a brief meeting with Prince Henry. According to British media, the monarch is preparing to return to Sandringham after his first cancer treatment.

Accompanying Charles III in the car, Queen Camilla was seen waving smiling. The departure from Clarence House occurred after a short meeting with his son Enrique, who arrived in London this Tuesday after an 11-hour flight from California. His wife, Meghan Markle, and his children, Archie and Lilibet, have stayed in Montecito.

King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer, as Buckingham Palace announced in a statement on Monday. The 75-year-old monarch began his treatment immediately. This new diagnosis is not related to his recent surgery for an enlarged prostate on January 26, but was detected during that procedure. Buckingham has not revealed what type of cancer the king suffers from, but they have reported that it is not prostate cancer.

Carlos III underwent surgery on January 26 at the London Clinic, located in the Marylebone neighborhood. He had already postponed his official commitments for a “brief” recovery period, but it will finally be longer after the new diagnosis. Over the course of 2023, Charles III fulfilled 516 official commitments in his first full year of reign, assuming an abundant official workload at 70 years old.

Prince Henry's return to London to visit his father has been seen by several royal commentators in the United Kingdom as a step in the right direction regarding this serious issue. The prince moved to the United States in 2020 after renouncing his status as working members of the British royal family. Since then he has returned to London on rare occasions, such as for the funeral of Elizabeth II, the coronation of his father or for trials for his privacy.
