Firefighters from Valencia remove a flag of Palestine raised at the top of the Micalet

Firefighters from the city of Valencia this afternoon removed a Palestinian flag from the top of Micalet that had been raised during the demonstration held this morning in the city. The firefighters have accessed the building without causing damage to the emblematic building and have removed the enormous flag, but not before removing two bars that will be replaced tomorrow, according to sources from this medium.

The aforementioned demonstration has brought together thousands of people to demand "freedom" for the Palestinian people. Protesters have demanded that the international community "end the genocide" against the civilian population of the Gaza Strip, as well as that the Universal Principles of Human Rights be applied.

The march, called by the association Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Pais Valencian (BDS), started from the Plaza de la Reina at noon and went through several streets until it ended in the Plaza del Temple, in front of the Delegation of the Government in the Valencian Community

The participants have formed a human circle around the Plaza de la Reina, and in the center they have placed dozens of photographs of the fatal victims of the Israeli attacks. The images were accompanied by candles and a sign on which was written "victims of the Israeli genocide."

In addition, attendees carried numerous Palestinian flags, banners with the slogans "Stop the Zionist genocide in Gaza. Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people", as well as posters with expressions such as "War is not with children" or "A Holocaust is not justified". They have also chanted slogans such as "Palestine will win", "Israel guilty, Europe responsible" or "Gaza bleeding and the world watching."

In the middle of the chants, a woman has entered the middle of the human circle with a microphone to demonstrate in favor of Israel. The attendees shouted in chorus "out, out, out" and "long live Palestine", and then pushed her out of the place where the concentration was occupied.

The demonstration, the fourth to be held in the city of Valencia by the BDS, is according to the organizers the largest. "We want people not to lose that inertia to express the right of the Palestinian people to have rights," highlighted Arnau Bas Beneito, member of the convening association. "In three weeks more than 7,000 people have died, among which there are more than 3,000 children," he clarified, adding that "Spain's position is regrettable, we demand that the Government take part and take a stand for the Palestinian people." .

"Not only are we witnessing the worst televised genocide of the century, but numerous companies and numerous governments in the North Atlantic are being complicit and among them, unfortunately, is Spain, which looks the other way," he clarified.

The Palestinian Community of Valencia, the Committee to Support the Palestinian People (CAPP), the Palestinian youth movement Al-Yudur and more than 120 associations, social movements, organizations, political parties and unions have collaborated in organizing the protest.

The president of the General Union of Algerians and Foreigners, Benrekia Said, has declared that "people in the Gaza Strip live in misery and under a blockade where they cannot eat or move." "We ask Spain, as a democratic country, to fight and put pressure on the European Union, to apply the regulations and stop the massacre once and for all," he stated.

"What is happening in the world is a great pain and it is a story that has not been going on for days, but for years. Unfortunately, world power and politicians have not been able to solve the conflict in a peaceful and negotiated way," he concluded.

Among the participants were some political representatives such as the Compromís-Sumar deputy in Congress Nahuel González; the deputy spokesperson for Compromís in Les Corts, Isaura Navarro, or the councilor for Compromís in the Valencia City Council, Giuseppe Grezzi.
