FGC builds a stop on the La Pobla train line for the El Segre industrial estate in Lleida

The Department of Territory, through Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), has started the construction works of a new stop on the Lleida - La Pobla de FGC line, between the stations of Lleida-Pirineos and Alcoletge, which will service to the Segre de Lleida industrial estate.

The work, with an execution period of four months, is scheduled to end in March.

After clearing and staking out the land, work began this week with the conditioning of the new pedestrian crossing that should allow access to the halt from the Segre industrial estate, specifically from Avinguda Indústria. It is a 1.80 meter wide sidewalk, which will have lighting along its entire length.

Subsequently, the work will continue with the construction of the stop platform, which will be 80 meters long and three meters wide.

The platform will have a canopy 10 meters long and almost three meters high. In addition, it is planned to build a parking lot with capacity for 11 vehicles and bicycles, which will serve as a connecting parking lot, which will also be managed by Ferrocarrils.

The new stop will improve the public transport offer in the Segre industrial estate, which currently only has one bus line, and will also facilitate access to the agricultural space in the Grenyana area.

It is an area with great environmental, biodiversity and heritage value as it is home to the Molí del Cervià, considered a cultural asset of local interest.

The construction of the halt will also facilitate access to the Mitjana park, declared an area of natural interest, with more than 90 hectares of riverside forest, wet meadows and areas with water.

It is expected that the Segre stop will have a demand of 23,000 users per year. The works have a budget of 453,000 euros (before VAT) and are financed by Next Generation funds.
