Ferran Soriano: "Savinho will stay at Girona for several seasons"

After this weekend, the League stops for fifteen days due to the strike of national teams and it does so with Girona as the undisputed leader of the First Division. The team coached by Michel has eleven victories in thirteen games. The people from Girona take two points from Real Madrid, four from Barça and six from Atlético de Madrid. To analyze this brutal moment for the club this morning, Ferran Soriano, the general director of the City Football Group, spoke to RAC1 through the El Món microphones.

"We have spent the first weeks of the competition asking for peace of mind and saying that the objective was permanence. Now this is no longer valid for us. Now we want to be among the top six. And if we arrive in March anyway, the objective will be to win the title" Soriano has stated forcefully.

Despite the euphoria, Soriano wants to keep his feet on the ground and explains that if the hypothetical case were to arise in which Girona continues to lead the standings and win the League, it is something that "comes with difficulties."

To exemplify this, he recalled the case of Leicester City, a humble club that unexpectedly won the Premier League in 2016. "Then they had a lot of problems, like many players bought them and now they are in the second division," he said.

The CEO of the City Football Group has closed the door on Girona selling any players this winter market and assures that Savinho will stay "for more seasons" at the club.
