Feijóo compares Congress with the 2017 Parliament after the report on the amnesty

Feijóo compares Congress with the 2017 Parliament after the report on the amnesty

The PP considers it serious that they have not been provided, for five years, with the report of the lawyers of the Congressional Justice Commission, on the amnesty law; It is serious that the report says that this law appears to be clearly unconstitutional, and even more serious that its content is not going to be ignored, as happened this morning at the meeting of the report studying the bill.

To such an extent that the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, considers that Congress is experiencing a drift that was already experienced in 2017, when the Catalan independentists made the disconnection laws prior to the approval, unilaterally, of the declaration of independence that led to the approval of article 155 of the Constitution.

In a statement in the Senate, in which he did not admit questions, after the approval of the reform of article 49 of the Constitution to delete the term "disabled" and replace it with "person with disabilities", the president of the PP stressed that it is especially serious that the report will be ignored and that Congress will increasingly resemble the Parliament, in which the internal operating rules were undermined in favor of independence.

Feijóo compared the way in which the agreement to modify article 49 of the Constitution has been achieved with "other attitudes seen in the Chamber, which do not strengthen the Constitution," he said in reference to the report of the Congressional lawyers. For the PP, avoiding this report represents a "mockery for the Chamber, contempt and an attack."

And all, in the opinion of the president of the PP, because "the report is devastating, it confirms a good part of the criticism that we have been making in recent months of this law of impunity, and it confirms that the amnesty is contrary to European law, to the separation of powers, damages legal security and indicates that the project is unconstitutional".

Furthermore, Alberto Núñez Feijóo considers that it is "extremely serious that the president of Congress acts at the dictates of the president of the Government and his party", and that is why he asks that "the procedures be respected" and the report of the lawyers of the commission who understand the law, and that, just as in the previous legislature, the lawyers' reports stopped the processing of the ERC and Junts proposals, that now "they stop and do not continue with their processing against of the lawyers' reports".

Given the situation created, the president of the PP announced that his party "will realize another milestone of those that are happening, before the European Union", and assured the Spaniards that the PP will use all the steps that are at its disposal, both in the social sphere, that is, in the street, politically, with all kinds of initiatives, and legally, with the resources that are necessary so that the law is not applied.
