Esplugues evicts 38 families due to the risk of a building collapsing

A total of 38 families will be evicted from their rental homes in Esplugues de Llobregat after a technical report declared structural problems in their building. There is a danger of collapse in a block known as El Barco, built decades ago on land considered a green zone according to the General Metropolitan Plan (PGM).

The eviction is imminent, as confirmed this Monday by the Baix Llobregat Town Council and Civil Protection, which has activated the plan Prosecuted by "danger of ruin".

The City Council communicated the situation this morning to those affected and has created a municipal office to seek “structural solutions” for those affected. “In collaboration with the Agència de l'Habitatge, solutions adapted to each case are sought,” said the Consistory.

For those affected without an immediate housing alternative, “punctual accommodation has been offered during the first 48 hours,” the municipal administration has highlighted.
