ERC, PSC and CUP break negotiations with Junts in Ripoll and it remains up in the air if Aliança Catalana will be able to govern

ERC, PSC and CUP have broken off negotiations this Friday night with Junts per Ripoll in such a way that right now it is up in the air if Aliança Catalana will automatically be able to govern as the most voted list despite not having the majority (6 councilors from the 17 that make up the consistory).

Negotiation sources have indicated that one of the main obstacles has been Junts' veto of the CUP as a government partner. "Blocking and vetoing democratic political groups is not what must be prioritized now. What the municipality needs most is a strong project with common objectives and a clear roadmap for the defense of human rights, peace and coexistence in Ripoll", they reproach Junts ERC, PSC and CUP in a joint statement.

Junts per Ripoll has not yet ruled on the situation, so it is up in the air what its position will be tomorrow at the investiture plenary session. The tripartite of ERC, PSC and CUP could still reach the majority necessary to win the mayoralty if Junts supported them, a complicated scenario considering the veto of the CUP during the negotiations.

"We maintain the proposal that we already made of a stable government between ERC, PSC and Alternativa por Ripoll-CUP, made up of 7 councilors who represent 42% of the votes, as the most appropriate formula for this new mandate", insist the three groups in a joint statement.

The head of the Junts per Ripoll list, Manoli Vega, has confirmed to ACN that he will not announce the meaning of his vote until tomorrow.
