El Vilar, from the meander of the Llobregat to Montserrat

I share in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos two series of photographs with Montserrat as a backdrop. The first images correspond to a postcard panorama with the small town of Vilar on the ridge and, in the background, the majestic mountain.

El Vilar is a town in the municipality of Castellbell i el Vilar, in the Bages region. It is located at 239 meters above sea level, on a hill to the left of the Llobregat, within the great meander that forms the river from the Castellbell gorge to the Bauma de Castellbell gorge, between the Rellinars and Merà streams.

As can be seen in the images, the 18th century Santa Maria church stands out in El Vilar, with a bell tower of romantic design.

In this other series of photographs we can see Montserrat from the Sierra del Obac, which is located between the regions of Vallès Occidental and Bages. It belongs to the northern part of the Catalan Prelittoral mountain range and forms a geographical unit with the nearby massif of Sant Llorenç del Munt.

The main peaks of this range are the Castellsapera (939 m), the Cerro del Castellar (931 m) and the hill of Tres Creus (929 m). Together with Sant Llorenç, it forms the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac.
