El Maresme creates a pool of interim agents to supply the local police

The pilot test for the unified selection of local police officers and the interim agent pool has been completed. The Maresme becomes a pioneer territory in this new modality of inter-administrative cooperation that has allowed, as pointed out by the councilor of Serveis als Municipis, Andreu Bosch, "to respond to a demand from the local world from a model of efficiency and cooperative work between administrations”.

The unified selection of local police officers has been promoted by the Maresme County Council, the Department of the Interior and the Institute of Public Security of Catalonia with the objective of making it easier for municipalities to fill their police positions from a single selection process that also generates an interim staff scholarship to cover vacancies.

An innovative system that, as announced by the Director of Security Administration, Sònia Andolz, "will soon be replicated in other territories of Catalonia that have already shown interest".

In this first call, 11 local police officer positions have been offered (4 in Calella, 2 in El Masnou, 1 in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, 1 in Sant Vicenç de Montalt, 1 in Teià, 1 in Vilassar de Dalt and 1 in Arenys de Mar) and, once all the selection tests have been completed, the official act of awarding places has been carried out with the assistance of the 11 people who have obtained the best qualifications from among the 269 who were admitted to the selection process.

Before starting to work as agents, however, they will have to pass the basic training course for police officers taught by the Escola de Policia de Catalunya. The director of the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya, Marta Roca, has encouraged applicants to take advantage of the training that will begin on January 3 and 4. "We must build a security system that allows us to face the increasingly complex challenges that society poses to us," said Roca.

The second leg of the unified selection of agents is the configuration of a stock of temporary agents to cover the vacancies in 12 municipalities in the region: the seven previously mentioned and Caldes d'Estrac, Cabrera de Mar, Canet de Mar, Sant Pol de Mar and Vilassar de Mar.

The bag is made up of 44 applicants and starting Monday the Department of the Interior will contact the participating municipalities to explain the procedure to follow to request access to the bag.
