Dozens killed in an Israeli bombing of a Gaza hospital, according to Hamas

This Friday, the Hamas government in Gaza denounced two serious bombings by the Israeli Army in recent hours against civilian targets in the north of the strip. One of them would be against a group of displaced people who were heading to the southern border and the other, against a convoy of ambulances near the capital's main hospital. In both there were at least dozens of deaths.

A few hours later, Israel confirmed the attack on the ambulance convoy. Israeli army spokesman Richard Hecht told reporters that "there are situations where they use a civilian vehicle to transport terrorists." "We don't shoot at ambulances and hospitals if we understand that they are just civilians and doing what they are supposed to do," he added.

The images, which the agencies have not been able to verify, have taken over social networks. Its harshness is extreme: in one of the videos, a group of Palestinians ride bicycles avoiding bodies of dead Palestinians on a road. The attack would have occurred during their escape. Bodies of women, men and children can be seen on the asphalt. The bombing would have taken place when the aforementioned group was trying to move towards the south of the region, at the Rafah border crossing.

Since the start of the war on October 7, the Israeli army has repeatedly ordered the population of the northern Gaza Strip, where Israeli attacks are concentrated, to flee south, but no area of the territory has been truly spared. of the bombings.

Shortly after the alleged attack on the road, the Hamas government reported that a new Israeli bombardment at the entrance to the aforementioned Al-Shifa hospital, the main hospital in the Gaza Strip capital, had left "dozens of dead and wounded." This attack would have occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon, according to PRCS. Hours later, the Gaza Ministry of Health spoke of 13 dead and 26 injured in "this crime."

According to the head of the government press service, the attack targeted "a convoy of ambulances that was preparing to transport the wounded from the Al Shifa hospital" to the border with Egypt. “This massacre left dozens dead and injured,” he stated. Some sources suggest that both events would be related.

In an AFPTV video you can see several bodies and wounded people next to a damaged ambulance. These images also show civilians carrying wounded people with bloody bodies. Others lie on the ground, visibly destroyed by the explosion against cars parked on the side of the road and in pools of blood.

Currently, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health, 16 of the 35 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are out of service, either because they were bombed or because they no longer have fuel to run their generators.

On October 27, the Israeli military accused Hamas of "waging war from hospitals" in the Gaza Strip, which the Islamist movement categorically denied.
