The Valencian supermarket chain Consum offers more than 400 jobs to reinforce the workforce in Catalonia during the summer campaign and holiday replacements for the coming months. The job offers, which are already available on the Cooperative's website, are, fundamentally, to cover operational tasks in supermarkets and logistics centers in Barcelona and the metropolitan area as well as in other stores in the regions of Garrotxa, Osona, El Baix Camp, La Selva or Baix Ampurdà.
The Cooperative offers full and partial days, with an access remuneration of 1,487 euros per month. When the person hired becomes a partner, this base increases to 1,652 euros gross. Over the last two years, the Consumer salary increase in Catalonia has exceeded 22% to improve the purchasing power of workers. In addition to the salary, the partners receive annually the cooperative return of the results that corresponds to them, in addition to the interest for their mandatory contributions to the social capital.
The summer season lasts from the beginning of April to the end of September. After this period of time, the hired personnel can have continuity. In fact, according to data from the Cooperative, 36% of the staff hired during the 2023 summer season in Catalonia at this point continue to work in Consumer Affairs and also with a permanent contract.
The requirements of the candidates are: having an ESO degree, customer orientation, desire to learn, attitude towards teamwork and living close to where the place is offered. You do not need to have previous experience, since Consum will facilitate the training. This last week the Cooperative has launched this personnel selection process to fill vacancies in more than 480 of its supermarkets. Consumption in Catalonia
The Cooperative's staff is currently more than 21,200 people and close to 21% of the total workers, more than 4,300 jobs, are in Catalonia. According to the closing data for the 2023 financial year, Consumo has 262 stores in Catalonia, 114 its own and 148 Charter franchises, in addition to several platforms in Barcelona: the general merchandise store, in the Free Zone, which has 92,000 m², and another in the Prat de Llobregat, with 13,500 m².
During the current financial year, Consum is expected to open three more supermarkets in Catalonia, the first of 2024 opened its doors in Castellar del Vallès last March.
Stable and quality occupation
Consumption has generated more than 1,900 jobs last year, 10% more than the previous year, reaching a workforce of more than 21,200 people. In the last ten years, the Cooperative has doubled its workforce and created around 10,000 stable and quality jobs in the autonomous communities where it is present.
