Competition agrees with Barça: there was no improper alignment of Gavi

The Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) today dismissed the complaint filed by Elche confirming that there was no improper alignment of the FC Barcelona footballer Gavi. The Elche club contested the match, in which Barça won 4-0, alleging that the blaugrana had played for Martínez Valero with a first-team record. Now, the resolution agrees with the blaugrana entity, which always maintained that it had complied with the regulations at all times.

The club consulted with the Federation at all times how to proceed with the player, making sure that he was always acting legally, and this is confirmed by the Competition Committee in its letter, in which it states that "At no time, consequently, the player's license was cancelled, and article 141.5 of the federative General Regulations referred to in the third legal basis of this resolution could not be understood to have been violated.

"The player, ultimately, met all the required conditions," says the resolution. Gavi started to have a record with the first team last January, but it was definitively revoked in March when FC Barcelona's appeal requesting the annulment of the precautionary measures was dismissed, for which the footballer had to leave his number 6 and to occupy number 30 with a record in the youth blaugrana, although he can continue playing with the first team until the end of the season.

The Competition Committee is clear, there was no undue alignment: “It has been accredited, as can be deduced from what has been said so far, compliance with the requirement set forth in letter a) of this article. The player, in fact, was legally registered and in possession of a license obtained in the periods established by the Regulations. It has already been said here that the RFEF Licensing Area reported that the player has been registered with a Youth license in the FC Barcelona Youth Division of Honor since October 2, 2020. And that it is to this situation that it returned once the decision was taken, by the RFEF, to take the situation back to that immediately prior to the decision to annul the precautionary measures to which we have referred in the fifth legal basis. This is a decision, moreover, that the RFEF adopted in strict compliance with what was resolved in court."

The decision is not yet final and Elche has ten business days to file an appeal before the Appeals Committee.
